WANTED: Rain! 11.13.10

Spent the day swinging flies for steelhead on the lower AuSable.  River has been flowing at a steady 1000cfs, about 30% lower than normal for this time of year.  We could use some rain, not only to bring the river up, but also bring more steelhead into the river.  There are some skips and small steelhead in the 4-5lb range in the river, but not big numbers of adults.  Saw several fish today scooting off the sand bars on had a solid hookup on a sculpin pattern.  Lots of spey casting for a single grab!  I took a break at this run to scope out the water from above.

  1. It's like that all over the state. Hit the Rifle today and the water is as low and clear as I have every seen it. Rain tonight and tomorrow though. There is no way I will be fishing for the next 15 days though with all the guns in the woods. =)
